The Astarte agricultural cooperative on a Mediterranean island is facing the devastating effects of drought. Despite receiving support from the World Climate Organisation, which is encouraging people to move to the Arctic North, the cooperative members decide to stay. Rather than abandoning their land, they hire a group of climatologists to make it rain. However, the real solution may lie in an innovative sunscreen created by Gazania that is capable of counteracting the Exodus and promoting Permanence. The basic idea is that, inspired by the way plants adapt to their environment, humans can evolve into 'vegumans' to do the same.
