This dystopian novel narrates the descent of an ordinary man into the underworld. Locked up in Regina Coeli prison, he is forced to come to terms with his fate. He previously led a solitary life, frequenting the Forbidden City, a go-go bar in Rome. However, after a chance encounter with a mysterious Chinese man, his world changes dramatically and he is drawn into a diabolical plan that culminates in murder. Set in a future marked by climate change, economic crisis and the introduction of a global currency, the world order appears to have changed irrevocably, with new global forces now in control of the planet's destiny. With bitter irony, the author explores the social and cultural transformations of an unrecognisable Rome amid reflections on identity and the fate of the 'last Roman'. This social critique invites reflection on the future of our civilisation.
