Un posto al sole (often abbreviated as Upas) is an original format created by Wayne Doyle with the collaboration of Adam Bowen, Gino Ventriglia, and Michele Zatta. The 'industrial' production method is based on the format of Neighbours: an Australian series that tells the stories of several families living on the imaginary 'Ramsay Street'. The Italian series is produced by Rai Fiction, Fremantle, and the Rai production center in Naples. The initial idea to produce and schedule the fiction that would later become Un posto al sole was Giovanni Minoli's, a Rai executive, who then committed himself greatly to making the project a reality.
